Designed as a contemporary family office for the legacy business behind pioneering blade brands such as Topaz, Panama, and Supermax, Malhotra Office resides within a decades-old Art Deco building in Fort, Mumbai. The brief was to create a modern workspace that responded to the evolving needs of the business while remaining rooted in the building's architectural character.
The design draws from the building's existing characteristics — curved forms, circular motifs, and red terrazzo tile flooring — reinterpreting them through a contemporary lens. A bold red terrazzo floor, oak wood finishes, textured off-white walls, and a radial coffered ceiling transform structural constraints into design opportunities, creating a workplace that feels both functional and distinctive.
At its centre, a gallery wall showcasing archival Topaz advertisements, packaging, and memorabilia celebrates the family's legacy, connecting the office to the story of the business it serves. The result is a workspace shaped by its context — contemporary in function, yet deeply connected to its history.
