Commissioned for Dr. Jai Madaan's private residence, the brief was to create a bespoke cushion collection inspired by the pomegranate — a symbol of abundance, vitality, and prosperity — using the traditional craft of zardozi embroidery.

Working within an accelerated timeline, AI was integrated into the design process to rapidly explore motifs, forms, compositions, and embroidery patterns. What would traditionally take weeks of sketching and development was condensed into a much faster ideation phase, allowing multiple design directions to be tested and refined before arriving at a final concept.

Once the designs were approved, extensive material sampling and embroidery trials were carried out to translate the digital concepts into handcrafted pieces. The final designs were then converted into detailed khakhas — stencil drawings used by zardozi craftsmen — streamlining communication with artisans and significantly reducing production timelines.

The project demonstrates how AI can be used as a tool to support traditional craft, accelerating the journey from concept to execution while preserving the skill, detail, and artistry of hand embroidery. The result is a collection of bespoke cushions where technology enabled efficiency, but craftsmanship remained at the heart of the final product.
